With all her property confiscated: Singer Povaliy sentenced to 12 years in prison

Singer Taisiya Povaliy, who moved to Russia after 2014 and became a voice for Kremlin propaganda, has been sentenced in Ukraine. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing the Office of the Prosecutor General.
“Prosecutors from the Vinnytsia Regional Prosecutor’s Office proved in court that the former People’s Artist of Ukraine and former People’s Deputy from the banned ‘Party of Regions’ systematically supported the aggressor state, participated in propaganda events, and publicly justified the Russian Federation’s armed aggression against Ukraine (Part 6 of Article 111-1, Article 436, Part 3 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine),” the statement reads.
On May 28, the Vinnytsia City Court sentenced Povaliy to 12 years in prison, banned her from holding certain positions for a period of 15 years, and ordered the confiscation of all her property for the benefit of the state.

According to the case materials, after the Revolution of Dignity and the start of the Russian-Ukrainian war, Povaliy left for Russia. Since then, she has been living in Moscow, where she continues her creative and entrepreneurial activities. In 2023, she received Russian citizenship.
“Prosecutors proved that after moving to Russia, Povaliy did not limit herself to a career in Russia. She systematically worked to support the aggressor state, in particular, participating in Russian propaganda events, supporting Putin’s policies, and publicly justifying the war against Ukraine,” the Office noted.
In particular, the artist performed at concerts honoring participants in the so-called “special military operation,” events marking the illegal “annexation” of Ukrainian territories to the Russian Federation, and their alleged “liberation from the Nazis.”
“In addition, Povaliy regularly appeared in Russian propaganda media. In interviews, she glorifies ‘Russophile’ ideals and demeans and disparages Ukrainians,” the Prosecutor General’s Office stated.
In 2024, based on materials from the prosecutor’s office, the High Anti-Corruption Court ruled to confiscate the defendant’s assets for the state, specifically:
· seven land plots in the Kyiv region with a total area of 9.3 hectares;
· a residential building with a total area of 442 square meters;
· a residential property with a total area of 101 square meters;
· two vehicles;
· four firearms;
· property rights to the music and lyrics of 9 works.
At the same time, in 2025, the Ukrainian National Office of Intellectual Property and Innovation registered property rights to 9 of the artist’s songs on behalf of the State of Ukraine.
The pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings was conducted in absentia by investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine in Vinnytsia Oblast.
The defendant will serve her sentence from the moment of her actual detention.
