The White House is considering inviting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Alaska, where US President Donald Trump and Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin will meet.

This is reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to NBC News.

“It’s being discussed,” said one of the people familiar with the discussions.

According to a senior U.S. official, as well as people familiar with the discussions, the visit has not yet been approved. And it is unclear whether Zelenskiy will eventually come to hold meetings.

But as the US official noted, it is “absolutely” possible.

“Everyone is very hopeful that this will happen,” he said.

The official was also asked whether the United States had officially invited Zelenskyy to Alaska, and he gave the following answer:

“The president remains open to a trilateral summit with both leaders. The White House is now focused on planning the bilateral meeting that President Putin has requested,” the senior official said.

Another source said that if Zelenskiy were to travel to Alaska, it is unclear whether he would find himself in the same room with Putin.

As a reminder, this week, on August 6, Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff traveled to Moscow for talks with the Kremlin as a last-ditch effort to end the war in Ukraine. At the time, there was still a deadline for sanctions.

Shortly after the meeting, information began to emerge that a meeting between Trump and Putin was planned for next week. In addition, after the meeting, the media wrote about the possibility of a trilateral meeting.

Last night, Donald Trump officially announced that he would meet with Putin on August 15 in Alaska. One of the topics of the talks is expected to be the war in Ukraine.
