Britain has punished Russia for the militarization and “re-education” of Ukrainian children
11 May 18:31
The British government has imposed new sanctions against 85 individuals and organizations from Russia. This move is part of efforts to counter the forced deportation of Ukrainian children from occupied territories, as well as their militarization and “re-education.”
This is stated on the British government’s official website, reports "Komersant Ukrainian".
These actions include a systematic campaign against Ukrainian children.
The sanctions target several key figures and organizations that play a decisive role in the deportation and Russification of Ukrainian children.
Among them are:
- Yulia Velichko, the so-called “LPR Minister of Youth Policy,” responsible for organizing deportations and issuing Russian passports to children.
- Grigory Gurov, head of “Rosmolod.”
- Maksym Shvets, a member of the “People’s Council” of the “DPR” group and a mixed martial arts fighter.
- Nadiya Boltenko, Commissioner for Children’s Rights in the Novosibirsk Region.
- Top managers of the autonomous non-profit organization “Dialog.”

Sanctions against organizations
The sanctions list also includes legal entities involved in the militarization and ideological indoctrination of children:
- The “Voín” Center, where children are taught military skills and indoctrinated with pro-Kremlin ideology.
- “Expert Institute for Social Research.”
- The “Internet Development Institute.”
- The media outlets EUROVIEW and “Europe Speaks.”
- Sevastopol State University.
- The “Zdravnitsa” sanatorium in occupied Crimea.
The assets of individuals and organizations subject to sanctions will be frozen, and cooperation with them is prohibited. Individuals are barred from entering the UK.
“Today’s actions are among the toughest measures taken by the UK to counter Russia’s hostile activities,” the British government said in a statement.
According to the British government, more than 20,000 children have been forcibly deported to Russia. About 6,000 are being held in specialized “re-education camps.”
Reaction from the European Union and Ukraine
The European Union is also preparing to significantly expand the “blacklist” of individuals involved in the illegal deportation and “re-education” of Ukrainian children.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed sanctions decrees against Russian entities involved in the abduction of Ukrainian children. This is the first sanctions package, which includes 20 individuals and 4 legal entities involved in the removal of children from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
