There will be retaliation: The Kremlin has responded to the drone attack on St. Petersburg
3 June 14:09
Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary for the Russian dictator, commented during a briefing on the overnight drone attacks on St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing Russian propaganda media.
“I would like to remind you of the statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which states that our responses will be systematic,” he said.
At the same time, Peskov noted that information regarding specific strikes and their consequences falls under the jurisdiction of regional authorities and the Russian Ministry of Defense.
Putin’s spokesperson also stated that a special military operation is ongoing to prevent such attacks from occurring.
St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov, in turn, reported several casualties. According to him, the attack damaged infrastructure in Kronstadt, as well as in the Krasnosilsky and Kirovsky districts of the city. Currently, relevant services are continuing to address the aftermath of the strikes.
According to media reports, explosions were heard in the Admiralteysky, Vasileostrovsky, Primorsky, and Krasnoselsky districts of St. Petersburg. In the Kirovsky district, the attack caused a fire at the “St. Petersburg Oil Terminal”—Russia’s largest oil transshipment complex on the Baltic Sea. It has a throughput capacity of 12.5 million tons per year and includes 21 storage tanks for petroleum products. The facility is of strategic importance for ensuring Russia’s security.

The attack on the terminal occurred on the opening day of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), which will take place from June 3 to 6. Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is expected to speak at the event. “Expoforum,” where the event will be held, is located 17 km from the oil terminal that was struck. Due to the drone attack, more than 29 flights were delayed at Pulkovo Airport.
