The Mezhyhiria Park has been open for two weeks, filling the state treasury. During this time, the institution has earned more than two million hryvnias. This was announced by the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Ruslan Strelets, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

“Over 14 days of operation, the state budget received more than UAH 2.1 million (UAH 420 thousand of this amount was paid in taxes, including VAT),” the minister said.

In total, over UAH 4.4 million in taxes have been paid to the budget over the eight months of operation.

Strelets noted that the park is recruiting staff, including people who have been taking care of Mezhyhirya on a volunteer basis for years.

“In July, the institution hired 40 people. In total, 111 people work in the park,” the minister added.

Over the past two weeks, the park has been visited by more than 10,000 people, including 500 combatants, who are entitled to free admission.

In addition, discounted tickets are available for large families, orphans, and children from orphanages and boarding schools.

“We are changing the philosophy of the park’s development. The former government residence should become a European-level park. We plan to turn it not just into an arboretum like Sofiyivka, but to make it the favourite place for Kyiv residents and guests of Ukraine, like the Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney or the world-famous Central Park in New York,” said Strelets.

Last month, the Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA) transferred the seized property of the Mezhyhirya park complex, which belonged to fugitive President Yanukovych, to state management.
