16 January 22:37
In Kyiv, in the event of a prolonged power outage, a list of pharmacies has been identified that will operate around the clock and have backup power. Authorities assure that this will ensure Kyiv residents and hospital patients have access to essential medications even in the event of a complete city-wide power outage.
This was reported by the Kyiv City State Administration, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
Which pharmacies will operate without power
These are six pharmacy outlets of the municipal enterprise “Pharmacy,” located directly within medical facilities. All of them are equipped with backup power sources and are ready to operate 24/7.
The pharmacy outlets will operate on both the left and right banks of Kyiv—inside hospital buildings—which will allow them to serve not only inpatients but also residents of nearby neighborhoods.
Left Bank:
- Kyiv City Clinical Hospital No. 1, Building 1 — Pharmacy Outlet No. 1 (Pharmacy No. 69), 121 Kharkiv Highway (Darnitskyi District);
- Kyiv City Clinical Emergency Hospital — Pharmacy No. 3 (Pharmacy No. 119), 10 Kubanska Ukraine St. (Desnianskyi District).
Right Bank:
- Kyiv City Children’s Clinical Hospital No. 1 — Pharmacy No. 3 (Pharmacy No. 74), 30 Bohatyrska St., Building 1 (Obolon District);
- Kyiv City Clinical Hospital No. 6 (Medmistechko) — Pharmacy No. 4 (Pharmacy No. 99), 3 Lyubomyr Huzar Ave. (Solomyanskyi District);
- Kyiv City Clinical Hospital No. 12 — Pharmacy No. 1 (Pharmacy No. 125), 4-A Prof. Pidvysotsky St. (Pecherskyi District);
- National Children’s Specialized Hospital “Okhmatdyt” — Pharmacy No. 52, 28/1 Vyacheslav Chornovil St. (Shevchenkivskyi District).
At these pharmacies, you will be able to purchase essential medications, including insulin and basic medical supplies.
What the authorities advise Kyiv residents
The Kyiv City State Administration’s Department of Health advises residents of the capital to carry cash, as ATMs may experience disruptions during prolonged power outages.
The decision to designate on-call pharmacies was made amid the complex situation in Ukraine’s power grid following massive Russian attacks. Earlier, authorities also announced possible changes to the operation of educational institutions and curfew rules under emergency conditions.
