The High Anti-Corruption Court Rejected the Appeal to Dismiss the Charges Against Tymoshenko: Details
13 May 14:12
The Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine (HACC) has dismissed the appeals filed by the defense attorneys of Yulia Tymoshenko, the leader of the “Batkivshchyna” faction, seeking to have the charges against her dropped, according to "Komersant Ukrainian", citing the HACC.
“On Tuesday, May 12, 2026, the Appeals Chamber of the HACC concluded its review of the defense’s appeals against the ruling of the HACC investigating judge dated April 21, 2026, denying the appeal against the notification of suspicion against the leader of one of the parliamentary factions,” the HACC statement reads.
It is reported that following the review, the panel of judges of the VAKS Appeals Chamber dismissed the defense’s appeals and upheld the investigating judge’s ruling without changes.
“The court concluded that the materials provided by the prosecution at this stage of the criminal proceedings indicate the existence of reasonable suspicion of a criminal offense with which the MP is charged,” the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) stated.
The ruling of the Appeals Chamber takes legal effect upon its announcement, is final, and is not subject to appeal in cassation. According to the investigation, the individual in question is suspected of offering or promising an unlawful benefit to a public official (Part 4 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the Anti-Corruption Action Center, during the appeal proceedings, Tymoshenko repeatedly stated that the case constitutes “political persecution and slander, and that there is insufficient evidence in the case.”
The SAPO prosecutor, in turn, noted that sufficient evidence had been gathered and that the totality of the evidence was sufficient to issue a notice of suspicion.
As reported, Tymoshenko is suspected of offering bribes to members of parliament in exchange for “necessary” votes in the Verkhovna Rada. Earlier, the court set a deadline of May 24 for Tymoshenko and her defense team to review the case materials.
After that, the SAPO prosecutor must submit the indictment to the court, and the court will schedule the first preparatory hearing.
