The next session of the Verkhovna Rada will take place in a month, says a member of parliament

Parliament is currently in a prolonged recess. The next plenary session of the Verkhovna Rada will take place on August 18. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak.

“There will be no plenary session tomorrow. The next one is scheduled, as of today, for August 18. As was to be expected, there will be no meeting of the ‘Servant of the People’ faction regarding the defense minister,” MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak wrote on social media.

“More precisely, there was a meeting that lasted a couple of minutes where they said they’re looking for a candidate other than Klymenko (but not Fedorov) either. They said something might happen at 9:00 p.m. (but I think that’s just another tall tale) or sometime in August… on August 18, to be clear,” he added.

Zheleznyak emphasized that there is currently no Minister of Foreign Affairs or Minister of Defense, and neither the head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) nor the head of foreign intelligence has been appointed.

The lawmaker pointed out that “since the formation of the new government, Fedorov has been completely relieved of his duties and is no longer serving as minister.”

“I would also like to point out how Klymenko was technically removed from all his posts…,” he added.

According to the schedule for the Verkhovna Rada’s tenth session, following the conclusion of the July plenary sessions, August is set aside for members of parliament to work in committees, factions, and with constituents, and the first plenary week after the recess begins on August 18.

The Law “On the Legal Regime of Martial Law” explicitly stipulates that, under martial law, the Verkhovna Rada operates in session mode.
