The Netherlands is investing 482 million euros in Ukraine’s defense industry as part of a partnership agreement signed by the two countries on Thursday, April 16. Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten announced this during a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

According to Jetten, the Netherlands wants to develop the defense industry jointly with Ukraine.

“We will strengthen our capabilities, and our Dutch industry will play a major role in this. That is why we signed a partnership agreement, and this will be beneficial for Ukraine, for the Netherlands, and for Europe. We are investing 482 million euros in defense,” Jetten said.

He noted that Dutch funding could help Ukraine launch a drone production project more quickly.

“The Ukrainian drone production project will be able to get up and running very quickly. Ukraine needs this to counter Russian aggression,” the Dutch prime minister emphasized.

According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine has proposed a special security partnership agreement to the Netherlands—the Drone Deal.

“And this concerns not only drones as such, but also the comprehensive development of all capabilities for air defense: protection against missiles and drones, the development of electronic warfare, and our joint weapons production. We have tasked our teams with working out all the details, and we have signed documents to launch this work—both on the Drone Deal and on the first joint production specifically with the Netherlands,” Zelenskyy said.

Earlier, on March 8, Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Rob Jetten announced that Ukraine and the Netherlands are expanding their joint weapons production.

At that time, the Dutch Prime Minister noted that the countries intend to expand their drone production capabilities.
