New Categories for Ukraine in the International Register of Damages: Who Can File a Claim
29 April 16:26
Starting April 29, representatives of the business community and the government may submit claims to the International Register of Damages Caused by Russia’s Aggression Against Ukraine.
This was reported on the president’s website, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
There are five new categories covering damage to or destruction of critical and non-critical infrastructure, as well as damage to, destruction of, or loss of assets.
“Submitting an application is available through the ‘Diya’ web portal for all legal entities, regardless of their organizational and legal form or form of ownership, including state-owned and municipal enterprises,” the statement reads.
Separate categories are also provided for the State of Ukraine, state authorities, state institutions, local self-government bodies, communities, and municipalities.
“The launch of these categories makes it possible to systematically document damages and build a comprehensive international evidence base upon which compensation decisions will be made,” noted Iryna Mudra, Deputy Head of the Office of the President.
In the categories related to the damage or destruction of critical and non-critical infrastructure, claims can be filed for reimbursement of the cost of destroyed or damaged property, as well as expenses for repair or restoration.
“Opening these categories makes it possible to document not only the fact of damage or destruction, but also restoration costs, losses of assets and profits, or even the complete loss of a business. This allows for the systematic documentation of such losses and the creation of a comprehensive international evidence base upon which compensation decisions will be made,” noted Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
The category regarding damage, destruction, or loss of assets covers not only the loss of assets but also the resulting loss of potential profits or the complete loss of the business.
