Koretsky’s new government has begun its work: the prime minister held the first Cabinet meeting

Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi chaired the first meeting of the new Cabinet of Ministers following his appointment by the Verkhovna Rada. During the meeting, the government identified its top priorities. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing Serhiy Koretskyi’s official Facebook page.

Koretsky’s New Government Holds First Meeting

Immediately after the appointment of the new Cabinet of Ministers, Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi held the government’s first working session.

According to the head of the Cabinet, the main topic of the meeting was identifying the top priorities for the new government’s work.

“We have identified our top priorities. I thank all the ministers for their readiness to work intensively. For every member of the government, the main criteria will be efficiency, accountability, and results,” Koretskyi stated.

The prime minister also emphasized that the Cabinet of Ministers will work to implement the tasks set by the President of Ukraine and the Verkhovna Rada.

“We are working to fulfill the tasks set by the President of Ukraine and the Verkhovna Rada. There is a great deal of work ahead,” the head of government emphasized.

What Tasks Lie Ahead for the New Cabinet

During his speech before the vote in the Verkhovna Rada, Serhiy Koretsky outlined the government’s key areas of focus.

Among the main priorities are:

  • supporting the Ukrainian Armed Forces;
  • developing the defense-industrial complex;
  • preparing the country for the upcoming heating season;
  • supporting Ukrainian businesses;
  • providing social protection for the population, especially residents of frontline regions;
  • effective use of international financial aid;
  • accelerating negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the European Union;
  • support for war veterans and internally displaced persons.

Koretsky also stated that the government will be open to cooperation with all parliamentary factions and deputy groups.

The Verkhovna Rada has formed a new government

On July 16, the Verkhovna Rada appointed Koretsky as Prime Minister of Ukraine.

On the same day, the Rada appointed the new Cabinet of Ministers.

At the same time, the positions of Minister of Defense and Minister of Foreign Affairs remain vacant for now, as, in accordance with the Constitution, the President of Ukraine nominates candidates for these positions.

Currently, Yevhen Khmara is temporarily serving as acting head of the Ministry of Defense.

Koretskyi succeeded Svyrydenko as Prime Minister

Serhiy Koretskyi took over as head of the government following Yulia Svyrydenko, who stepped down as Prime Minister.

Before the vote in parliament, Koretsky stated that he is aware of the scale of the challenges facing the country.

According to him, the coming winter could be even more difficult, so the government must act as quickly, effectively, and responsibly as possible.
