Israeli Ambassador dispels rumors of Russian weapons transfer to Ukraine

Israeli Ambassador to Ukraine Michael Brodsky has denied his intention to transfer Russian weapons captured by the IDF in Lebanon to Ukraine. He said this in an interview with Radio Liberty, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

Last week, Ukraine’s Ambassador to Israel Yevhen Korniychuk met with Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Sharren Haskel and thanked her for the initiative.

As Ambassador Michael Brodsky explained, Haskel submitted such a bill when she was still a member of parliament, but it was not adopted. Currently, there are no similar decisions from the Ministry of Defense.

“I will probably disappoint you a little bit, but this is not an Israeli initiative, there is some kind of a broken phone here. Someone must have misunderstood something. Sharren Haskel, when she was still a member of parliament, not a deputy foreign minister, came up with a private legislative initiative under which Israel would have handed over captured Russian-made weapons to Ukraine. This initiative did not advance in the Knesset,” Brodsky said.

According to the ambassador, she has since become deputy foreign minister and cannot submit private legislative initiatives as a member of the government.

“The transfer of weapons is entirely the responsibility of the army and the Ministry of Defense. The Israeli Defense Ministry has not made any such decision,” Brodsky said.

Earlier it was reported that Israel allegedly began supplying Ukraine with Russian weapons captured in Gaza, Lebanon and Syria.

It is noted that last week, several US Air Force military transport aircraft departed from Ramstein Air Base in Germany to Hatzerim Air Base in southern Israel. After that, the planes continued their route to Rzeszow in eastern Poland, which is the main hub for almost all military aid supplied to Ukraine.
