Fares in Kyiv Have Gone Up: How Much Do Minibuses and Public Transportation Cost?

Starting July 15, public transportation fares in Kyiv went up. And as of August 1, fares on the city’s minibuses also increased. "Komersant Ukrainian" reports this, citing RBC-Ukraine.
How much does it cost to ride minibuses?
Minibuses that used to cost 10 hryvnias now cost 20 hryvnias.
Minibuses that previously cost 20 hryvnias now cost 25 hryvnias.
“We had planned to raise the price as early as July 15, but we didn’t do so because public transit fares had gone up at that time. And since then, over the past 15 days, the cost of fuel has risen by 15 hryvnias,” explained Ihor Moiseenko, head of the “Association of Carriers of Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast.”
Public Transportation Fares
On city public transit (subway, buses, trams, trolleybuses, and the funicular), a single-ride ticket costs 30 hryvnias.
At the same time, passengers can take advantage of a discount system when purchasing monthly passes. The cost per trip depends on the number of trips purchased:
- 1–9 trips — 30 hryvnias per trip;
- 10–19 trips — 28.90 hryvnia;
- 20–29 trips — 27.80 hryvnias;
- 30–39 trips — 26.60 hryvnia;
- 40–49 trips — 25.50 hryvnia;
- 50 trips — 25 hryvnias.
Kyiv residents can also purchase monthly passes with a limited number of trips:
- 46 trips – 1,088 hryvnias;
- 62 trips – 1,463 hryvnias;
- 92 trips – 2,156 hryvnias;
- 124 trips – 2,888 hryvnias.
An unlimited monthly pass for all types of public transportation will cost 3,656 hryvnias.
Who Is Eligible for Discounts
All existing public transit fare discounts remain in effect:
Students pay 50% of the cost of a monthly pass;
Schoolchildren ride for free during the school year and pay 25% of the cost during summer vacation.
