Russia Attacked a Children’s Hospital in Zaporizhzhia: What Is Known About the Consequences of the Strike

On the evening of August 4, Russian occupation forces struck the grounds of a hospital in Zaporizhzhia. The attack damaged the hospital building; however, according to preliminary reports, there were no casualties.
This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing a statement by Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration.
Russia Attacked a Hospital in Zaporizhzhia
According to the regional head, Russian troops struck the grounds of one of the city’s medical facilities.
“The enemy struck the grounds of one of Zaporizhzhia’s hospitals. The consequences are being assessed,” Ivan Fedorov said.
Prior to this, an air raid alert was issued in the Zaporizhzhia region due to the threat of attack drones and guided aerial bombs (KAB).
At the time of the attack, all children and medical staff were in shelters.
Ivan Fedorov later clarified that the enemy had struck the grounds of the regional children’s clinical hospital. During the air raid alert, the medical facility’s staff followed safety protocols.
At the time of the Russian strike, all children, along with medical staff, were in a shelter, which prevented any casualties.
According to preliminary data:
- there were no casualties;
- the building’s facade was damaged;
- the blast wave shattered the windows of the medical facility.
Experts continue to examine the impact site and assess the extent of the damage.
Russia continues to attack civilian infrastructure
Zaporizhzhia is regularly coming under attack by Russian forces. Recently, the occupiers have been increasingly using strike drones and guided aerial bombs against civilian infrastructure, residential neighborhoods, and medical facilities.
Local authorities have once again urged residents not to ignore air raid sirens and to immediately seek shelter.
