Bolt has permanently banned a female taxi driver from Russia from working on its platform after she caused a scene and lashed out at Ukrainian female passengers in Milan for speaking Ukrainian.

This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" by Bolt’s press office, commenting on the incident that occurred on August 1, 2026, in Italy.

The company emphasized that the safety of all users is its absolute priority, and that the behavior captured on video is unacceptable and completely contrary to the service’s standards. Bolt stressed that it thoroughly investigates every such case of discriminatory behavior.

“We have now completed an internal investigation into this incident. As a result, the driver’s access to the Bolt platform has been permanently restricted, so she will no longer be able to provide rides through our service,” the company stated.

In addition, company representatives contacted the affected passenger, informed her of the investigation’s results, and paid her monetary compensation as an apology for the unpleasant experience she endured.

Bolt also asks users to immediately report any instances of unacceptable or aggressive behavior to customer support so that the company can respond promptly to violations and take appropriate action.

The incident stemmed from the inappropriate behavior of a company employee in Milan who insulted Ukrainian female passengers. At the time , Bolt promised to look into the matter and launched an internal investigation.

Why the conflict arose

Passenger Anna Danylyuk shared a story on the social media platform “Trends” about what happened to her and her friends during a trip to Milan (Italy).

According to her, throughout the entire ride, the passengers spoke exclusively in Ukrainian among themselves and did not interact in any way with the driver, whose name was Tetyana. However, at the end of the ride, a simple act of politeness provoked aggression from the driver.
