Cucumber prices in Ukraine continue to fall sharply: the main reasons
9 May 08:11
Prices for greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine continue to fall sharply. As of today, Ukrainian greenhouse complexes are shipping this product at significantly lower prices than during the same period last year. This is reported by analysts from the EastFruit project, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
Producers attribute the intensifying downward price trend primarily to a seasonal increase in supply against a backdrop of relatively low demand.

Currently, greenhouse complexes are selling cucumbers at prices ranging from 30 to 60 UAH/kg ($0.68–1.37/kg), which is on average 20% cheaper than at the end of last week. According to market operators, this situation is driven by several factors. First, harvests at greenhouse farms remain stable and sufficient in volume, leading to a noticeable increase in market supply. At the same time, demand for these vegetables has dropped significantly compared to the previous week.

As a result, sellers are forced to continue lowering their selling prices to boost sales and avoid accumulating significant volumes of unsold produce in warehouses.
It should also be noted that greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine are currently being sold at an average of 30% lower than in early May 2025. At the same time, producers do not rule out further price reductions in this segment if current sales rates persist.
