A one-year-old child left in a car by his father dies in Belgium

A 15-month-old child died in the Belgian city of Namur as a result of tragic negligence. This was announced on Friday by the Namur prosecutor’s office, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports citing rtbf.
According to preliminary investigative data, on Thursday the father forgot the baby in the car. The child died of overheating (hyperthermia).
According to law enforcement agencies, the man was supposed to take the child to a kindergarten that morning. He first took the older child to another place and then went to work. In doing so, the father forgot that his baby was still in the car.
The tragedy was revealed only in the evening, when the grandparents came to the kindergarten to pick up their grandson. It was then that the family realized the extent of the misfortune.
A forensic expert was involved in the investigation. His conclusions confirmed that the infant’s death was caused by hyperthermia, without the intervention of outsiders.
A criminal investigation was opened into the incident under the article “unintentional homicide”.

Why it is dangerous to leave children in the car
Doctors constantly warn about the deadly danger of leaving children in closed cars. The temperature inside the car can rise much faster than outside. Even with an outside temperature of 20°C, the temperature inside a car can rise to 27°C in 10 minutes and 47°C in an hour.
Young children’s bodies are particularly vulnerable to overheating, as their thermoregulation system is not yet fully developed. Children heat up 3-5 times faster than adults. At a body temperature of 40°C, irreversible damage to internal organs begins, and a temperature of 41-42°C can be fatal.
Experts emphasize that even a few minutes can be critical. A car parked in the sun with the windows closed turns into a kind of oven where the temperature can reach 70°C. Therefore, doctors strongly advise against leaving children in a car for even a short time, even in cool weather.
