In Kyiv, Russian forces struck high-rise buildings: people may be trapped under the rubble

On the night of June 1, Russia launched a massive strike on Kyiv, resulting in fires breaking out in several districts of the capital, damage to residential buildings, and partial structural collapse in one of the high-rise buildings. This was reported by Timur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, on his Telegram channel, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"

Fires and damage were reported separately in the Shevchenkivskyi, Solomianskyi, Holosiivskyi, and Obolonskyi districts of the capital.

What happened in Kyiv on the night of June 2

The Russian attack caused serious damage in several districts of Kyiv at once. The most alarming situation is in the residential sector, where hits and fires in high-rise buildings have been reported. After the strike, a large column of smoke rose in the capital, and thousands of Kyiv residents took shelter in the metro during the air raid alert.

According to preliminary reports, one man was killed as a result of the shelling.

Another 20 Kyiv residents were injured.

Which areas of Kyiv were hit hardest

In the Podilskyi district, the structure of a high-rise residential building was destroyed.

In the Shevchenkivskyi district, a fire broke out on several floors of a residential building.

In the Solomyanskyi district, the upper floors of a 15-story residential building were damaged after being struck by debris, presumably from a rocket.

In the Holosiivskyi district, cars and a shopping area caught fire, and in the Obolonskyi district, debris fell onto the grounds of a kindergarten.

As of the early hours following the attack, at least four casualties were reported in the capital. Residents may be trapped in the partially destroyed building.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had warned the day before that the threat of a large-scale Russian strike remains real and urged citizens to pay close attention to air raid sirens.
