Zelenskyy held a command meeting on the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: what decisions led to radical changes
1 June 22:47
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy chaired a regular meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Headquarters, during which participants discussed the situation at the front, the resupply of combat brigades, and further strengthening of the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s defensive capabilities. Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this in his evening address, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"
The President emphasized that the Headquarters had analyzed in great detail how the decisions previously discussed by the military personnel on the front lines were being implemented. It was precisely these steps, he said, that brought about fundamental changes in the defense of Ukrainian positions.
What Zelenskyy said about changes on the front lines
The President stated that in the second half of last year, decisions were implemented that ultimately led to a significant strengthening of the Armed Forces’ positions on the front lines. This is not about a single reform, but rather several areas of support for combat brigades that have begun to operate systematically.
According to Zelenskyy, the General Staff analyzed the implementation of these decisions in great detail and concluded that they have genuinely strengthened the Ukrainian army.
What three decisions did Zelenskyy name as key?
The President singled out three main decisions that yielded results.
Direct funding for combat brigades
The first step was direct funding for combat brigades so they could quickly procure necessary equipment, primarily drones. According to the president, this decision gave the brigades real combat capabilities.
In essence, this means that units gained greater ability to meet their urgent needs more quickly without unnecessary bureaucracy.
A more equitable distribution of personnel
The second area is a fairer distribution of new recruits and reinforcements for combat brigades. Zelenskyy reported that approximately 160 military units are already receiving a stable, guaranteed supply of personnel.
This, he said, allows the military to hold their defenses more confidently and protect their positions on the front lines.

Expanding the capacity to conduct basic military training
The third decision concerns expanding the brigades’ capabilities to conduct basic military training. The President noted that the number of military units authorized to conduct basic military training has doubled.
This means that the army has more opportunities to train personnel independently and adapt new recruits more quickly to the real needs of the front lines.
“Direct funding has given brigades real combat capabilities. Regarding personnel, about 160 military units are already receiving stable, guaranteed reinforcements, and this allows us to defend our positions with greater confidence. The number of military units authorized to conduct combat training has also doubled. I have instructed that possible additional steps be worked out for each of these points to see how else we can support the brigades,” Zelenskyy stated.
What else was discussed at the Command Post
Special attention was paid at the meeting to the issue of long-range 155-mm artillery. Zelenskyy emphasized that this is one of the topics the military frequently raises directly from the front lines.
The President instructed officials to explore more opportunities for:
- funding;
- production;
- supplying 155-mm shells;
- overall support for the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ artillery capabilities.
According to the head of state, artillery remains critically important for achieving combat results.
What new instructions did Zelenskyy give?
Following the meeting of the High Command, the president instructed the Ministry of Defense and diplomats to immediately begin working on securing additional ballistic defense systems.
He also set the task of increasing the supply of 155-mm ammunition and, in general, identifying additional measures that could further support combat brigades. Separately, Zelenskyy mentioned the supply of pickup trucks to the military, noting that the relevant decisions are already being implemented.
