One of the world’s largest container operators, the Swiss company Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), has acquired a controlling stake (51%) in the TIS container terminal, located in the waters of the Pivdennyi Port.
This is evidenced by data from YouControl, reports "Komersant Ukrainian".
Who Are the Owners?
According to YouControl data, the largest ultimate beneficiaries of the company are members of the Aponte family—Diego and Alexa Aponte—who, through related entities, each control 25.5% of the Ukrainian terminal’s shares. The Aponte family owns the Swiss MSC Group.
Other shareholders of the terminal include Yegor Grebennikov (11.72%), Andriy Stavniser (9.72%), and Oleg Kutateladze (9.19%).

The MSC Group is a global leader in maritime container shipping.
Viktor Berestenko, president of the Association of International Freight Forwarders of Ukraine, confirmed that the deal could intensify competition among container terminals and contribute to the development of Ukraine’s port infrastructure.
Previous MSC Investments in Ukraine
In May, MSC acquired a 50% stake in the Ukrainian intermodal logistics operator N’UNIT and a 25% stake in the cross-border terminal “Mostyska.”
The arrival of a new investor could impact the transportation market in Ukraine by increasing competition and improving service quality.
“MSC’s arrival could intensify competition among container terminals and contribute to the development of Ukraine’s port infrastructure,” said Viktor Berestenko.
As a reminder, TIS previously bought out its container terminal and tugboat business from its Arab partners.
