Mykita Poturaev, a member of parliament from the “Servant of the People” faction, announced his resignation from parliament. He made the announcement directly during a plenary session of the Verkhovna Rada and stated that he had already submitted an official letter addressed to Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing the live broadcast of the Verkhovna Rada session.

Poturaev requested that his application be considered without delay

Speaking from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada, Mykyta Poturaev announced that he had already officially addressed Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk with a request to terminate his parliamentary mandate early.

“I have submitted a statement addressed to you requesting the resignation from my duties as a People’s Deputy of Ukraine of the IX convocation,” Poturaev said during the plenary session.

At this time, the deputy has not provided a detailed explanation of the official reasons for this decision.

“I would ask my colleagues in the Verkhovna Rada to consider this (note: the request to resign) as promptly as possible—just as they consider other decisions that forced me to make this decision,” Poturaev said.

The announcement came amid personnel changes in the Cabinet of Ministers

Poturaev’s announcement came amid a major government reshuffle.

Today, the Verkhovna Rada is considering:

  • the appointment of the new Prime Minister, Serhiy Koretsky;
  • the formation of the new Cabinet of Ministers;
  • personnel changes in the Ministry of Defense and other agencies.

Against this backdrop, a lawmaker’s decision to resign from office became yet another unexpected development of the political day.
