Ukraine Launched Strikes on Belgorod and Rostov-on-Don: What Are the Consequences?

The Belgorod Region and the regional center came under drone attack on the night of Saturday, July 25, according to the region’s governor, Alexander Shuvaev. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing DW.
According to the official, fires and damage occurred “on the streets,” though Shuvaev did not provide specific details.
“There is damage and fires on the streets, which firefighters are putting out,” Shuvaev said. He also reported that there were casualties.
According to the Ukrainian monitoring channel Exilenova, the strikes in Belgorod targeted logistics warehouses and energy infrastructure facilities—the “Pivdenna” substation and the “Promin” thermal power plant.

Social media users from Rostov-on-Don also reported the attack on the city. Mayor Alexander Skryabin confirmed the attack but did not provide details on the situation.
Meanwhile, residents are posting footage on social media showing a fire at at least one location.
Media: A military base with bombers caught fire in Engels
A major fire also broke out on the night of July 25 in Engels, Saratov Oblast. The Exilenova project believes that the headquarters of the 22nd Guards Heavy Bomber Aviation Donbas Red Banner Division, located near a military airfield, caught fire.
Exilenova notes that, based on initial media reports, it cannot confirm that the fire at the military facility was caused by a drone attack.
“Local residents report that one of the barracks buildings simply caught fire. According to them, there was no attack,” the Telegram channel states.
As of the morning of July 25, local authorities had not confirmed an attack. However, shortly before the first reports of a fire at the facility in the Saratov region, a “drone hazard” alert was issued.
A Tu-95MS had previously been hit at the Engels airfield
After reviewing eyewitness footage, the ASTRA project confirms that the fire in Engels broke out near a military unit and the airfield. The media notes that this same airfield was attacked by a UAV on the night of July 16, and at that time, it was confirmed that a Russian Tu-95MS strategic missile-carrying bomber—which Russia uses, among other things, for attacks on Ukraine—had been hit.
Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the airfield in Engels has been repeatedly targeted by UAVs.
