Enemy attack on a weapons exhibition in the Kyiv region: event organizer detained

The organizer of an arms exhibition in the Kyiv region, which was attacked by Russian troops on July 24, has been charged. He has been detained. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko.
According to the investigation, one of the arms manufacturers’ associations, without any approval from the military command, the regional and district military administrations, or other authorized bodies, organized a large-scale event involving military personnel, representatives of government agencies, international partners, and the business community. The program included, in particular, a demonstration of air defense systems.
More than 300 people were invited to the open-air venue. The nearest shelter, measuring just 34 square meters, was located approximately 100 meters from the event site. This means that hundreds of people were exposed to an obvious security risk from the very beginning.
Invitations were sent out nine days before the event, and the exact location and time were announced one day in advance. Investigators are examining whether these actions could have enabled the enemy to prepare a targeted strike.
“The main organizer of the event has been detained. He has been notified of charges under Part 3 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The court will determine his pretrial detention measure in the near future. Due to minor injuries, he is currently under guard at a medical facility,” Kravchenko noted.
According to him, urgent searches were conducted at the association’s office and at the residences of individuals who may have been involved in organizing this event.
“A separate legal assessment will be conducted of the actions or inactions of all officials who were obligated to respond to potential risks. We are reviewing the activities of the relevant units of the National Police, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), state authorities, local government bodies, and military command: to what extent was the security situation properly monitored, were potential threats identified and assessed in a timely manner, whether the response measures required by law were taken, and whether the actions or inaction of the responsible officials could have influenced the course of events,” Kravchenko concluded.
As a reminder, on the afternoon of July 24, Russian troops launched a ballistic missile strike on the Kyiv region. The Bucha district sustained the most damage.
The attack resulted in fatalities and injuries. According to preliminary data, 10 people were killed in the shelling, and about a hundred more sustained injuries of varying severity.
The strike hit a private training ground where a public event was taking place at the time.
The Ukrainian Gunmakers’ Council noted that the occupiers struck a location where representatives of the Ukrainian defense industry were present.
