Yevhen Indiushkin, a master of sports from Dnipro, won the prestigious Mediterranean Equestrian Tour international obstacle course tournament in Oliva Nova, Spain.

The athlete’s achievement was announced by Mykola Lukashuk, head of the Dnipro Regional Council, reports "Komersant Ukrainian". Indiushkin, who represents the Klimenko Stable club, won the gold medal, riding a mare named Cornelia.

What is this tournament about?

TheMediterranean Equestrian Tour is one of the leading international equestrian events that attracts the world’s best riders. This year, the tournament took place from October 7 to 12, bringing together participants from more than 35 countries.

This is not just a sporting event, but a showcase of professional sports and the equestrian industry, where both titled athletes and promising riders compete for a place in the world rankings.

What they say in Dnipro

According to Mykola Lukashuk, Indiushkin’s victory was symbolic because the preparation for the tournament took place amid constant shelling of the region.

“The team was preparing hard for the tournament. Under rockets, under constant shelling. To win this award, to hear the Ukrainian anthem,” the official wrote.

This is not the first achievement of Ukrainian athletes who continue to train and compete in a full-scale war, demonstrating resilience and endurance.

Why it is important

For Ukrainian sport, participation and victories in international competitions are not only a matter of prestige, but also a way to remain visible in the world, to remind the world of a country at war, and at the same time to develop its own sports school.

Over the past two years, Ukrainian riders have increased the number of performances abroad, and equestrian sport is gradually becoming Ukraine’s new calling card on the European stage.

Ukrainian athletes have been actively participating in international competitions even during the war. In 2024-2025, Ukrainians won awards in various sports, from athletics to figure skating.

Earlier, rider Kateryna Klimchenko, a coach at Klimenko Stable, was also a member of the Ukrainian national team at tournaments in the Czech Republic and Germany.
