Ukrainians have been warned of a possible shortage of apricots and peaches: what we know

The unusually cold April in Ukraine hit the fruit and berry sector the hardest. Apricots, peaches, early cherries, and strawberries are at risk. This was stated in a comment to RBC-Ukraine by Maksym Hopka, an analyst at the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".
According to the expert, the greatest impact of the spring frosts will be felt at the very beginning of the season, when the market is not yet saturated with produce.
“At risk are apricots, peaches, early cherries, and early strawberries. This is especially true for the first weeks of the season, when the market is not yet saturated,” Gopka explained.
At the same time, apricots and peaches may become scarce due to the loss of part of the harvest. The expert noted that prices for these fruits will largely depend on imports.

In turn, Oleg Pendzin, executive director of the “Economic Discussion Club,” in a conversation with RBC-Ukraine, believes that a shortage of apricots or cherries will not be critical for Ukrainians, since these products are not considered socially essential.
“You can live without raspberries, just as you can without cherries or apricots. You cannot live without bread, without potatoes, without vegetables, without grains,” Pendzin noted in a comment to RBC-Ukraine.
According to him, in the event of a shortage of Ukrainian fruits on the market, imports from Turkey and Central Asian countries will increase.
