High prices and poverty could pose a challenge for post-war Ukraine, says Voskoboynik

Vasyl Voskoboynik, president of the All-Ukrainian Association of International Employment Companies and head of the Office of Migration Policy, stated that social inequality, high housing costs, and a lack of equal opportunities could pose serious risks to Ukraine’s internal unity after the war.

He made these remarks in an interview for the YouTube channel "Komersant Ukrainian".

According to Voskoboynik, when discussing Ukrainians abroad, one cannot ignore citizens who remain in the temporarily occupied territories. The expert believes that many people do not dare to move due to economic difficulties and a lack of employment prospects.

“They clearly understand that they won’t find a high-paying job. For example, rent is very expensive here,” Voskoboynik said.

Housing costs and poverty levels are exacerbating social tensions

The head of the Office of Migration Policy drew attention to the rapid rise in housing rental prices, especially in the capital.

Voskoboynik says that the average cost of a three-bedroom apartment in Kyiv is currently 41,000 hryvnias, and a significant portion of the population does not have sufficient income.

“According to the Ministry of Economy, nearly 30% of the population, or nearly 10 million people, live below the poverty line,” Voskoboynik emphasized.

The expert is convinced that the state must offer citizens a shared vision for development and ensure equal living conditions.

According to Voskoboynik, ignoring social problems could have serious political consequences in the very near future.
