Zelenskyy Calls for a Transparent Selection Process in the Competition for the Head of “Forests of Ukraine”

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has instructed the government to hold an open and professional competition for the position of head of the state-owned enterprise Lisy Ukrainy.
He announced this in a Telegram post, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
Following a conversation with Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, the head of state emphasized the need to restructure state-owned enterprises.
“The restructuring of certain state-owned enterprises must be carried out promptly. A transparent and professional competition is needed for the position of the new head of the company ‘Forests of Ukraine,’ and overall, the industry needs new approaches—more modern, clean, and capable of supporting state revenues,” the president emphasized.

The President emphasized that personnel changes must also take place at the level of deputy ministers and in state-owned energy companies.
In particular, a new supervisory board has already been formed at Energoatom, which is expected to expedite the selection of a new head.
In addition, Zelenskyy called for accelerating the privatization of Sens Bank and emphasized the need to liberalize the banking sector
The president expects the government to make swift decisions that will eliminate the problems hindering economic processes and reducing state budget revenues.

What is the State Enterprise “Forests of Ukraine”?
The state-owned enterprise “Forests of Ukraine” was established as part of the forestry sector reform. It consolidated approximately 150 state-owned forestry enterprises.
The goal of the reform was to increase the profitability of the forestry sector, strengthen control, and protect forest areas. Today, “Forests of Ukraine” is the largest forest user in Ukraine and one of the largest in Europe.
The enterprise’s functions include:
- forest management;
- protection, use, and restoration of forests;
- hunting management;
- protection and rational use of the state hunting fund.
In April 2024, the government included “Forests of Ukraine” in the list of economic entities of particular importance to the economy.
