250,000 textbooks destroyed: Russian shelling destroyed the “Konvi” printing plant

Russian shelling on the night of July 18 destroyed the “Konvi” Group’s printing plant and destroyed nearly 250,000 textbooks and 350,000 blanks for publishing materials, said Commercial Director Viktoria Haidai, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
“The night of July 19 was a terrifying one for Kyiv and devastating for the Konvi Group’s printing plant—one of Ukraine’s largest enterprises that prints school textbooks. Fortunately, none of the employees were injured during the attack. However, as a result of a Russian ballistic missile strike, the massive production halls were left without roofs, the equipment in the printing and binding shops was destroyed or flooded, and the office spaces were completely gutted by fire,” she wrote on Facebook.
According to her, nearly 250,000 9th-grade textbooks, ready to be shipped to schools, were completely destroyed.
Semi-finished publishing products (with a total print run of about 350,000 books) were also damaged, including 4th-grade textbooks.
She said that among the affected publishers were “Ranok,” “Gramota,” “Litera LTD,” “Lingvist,” “Knyholav,” “Laboratoriya,” “Artbooks,” “ASSA,” “Kalamar,” “Atena,” “Aston,” “Bukshef,” MISON, “Vyshcha Shkola,” “Meditsina,” “Apriori,” and others.
On the night of July 19, as a result of an attack by the Russian Federation, the warehouse of the “Knyholav” publishing house was also destroyed, resulting in the loss of 250,000 books. The MISON publishing house was also destroyed, and the office of the “Ark.Uey” publishing house in Kyiv was damaged.

Publishing houses affected by Russian shelling
On July 2, 2026, the central warehouse of the logistics company Denka Logistics was destroyed during a Russian attack, resulting in the loss of approximately 800,000 books from the BookChef publishing house.
On May 24, 2026, one of the bookstores in the “Knyharnya ‘Ye’” chain in Kyiv’s Podil district was damaged.
On May 14, 2026, a Russian shelling damaged a power substation at one of the logistics centers of the “Ranok” publishing house in Kyiv.
On June 17, 2025, the BookUa bookstore and café in Kyiv’s Nyvky district was damaged by shelling. The glass doors and windows were shattered. Also on May 17, the warehouse of the “Ukrainian Priority” publishing house was destroyed. Tens of thousands of books—more than 130 titles—were burned.
On July 4, 2025, the warehouse of the “Nash Format” book publishing house and online store in Kyiv was damaged as a result of a nighttime Russian shelling.
On August 28, 2025, the “KnigoLand” bookstore in the capital was damaged by shelling, and books were ruined. The Kyiv bookstore Readeat was also damaged at that time.
On September 30, 2025, the warehouse of the “Smaki” publishing house was damaged as a result of Russian shelling of Dnipro, and part of the print run was lost.
On October 23, 2025, the “Plekay” bookstore in Kyiv’s Podil district was damaged as a result of Russian shelling. In particular, the blast wave shattered the windows inside the building.
