17 August 11:10

The Russian Armed Forces struck Naftogaz Group facilities in various regions of the country 13 times with drones and missiles. One of the assets was attacked several times over the course of the week. This was reported by Naftogaz’s press service, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"

In particular, production infrastructure was targeted. No employees were injured during the attacks, but operations at some of the facilities had to be suspended.

“There is significant damage to equipment and production facilities. Operations at some facilities have been suspended, and part of the production volume has been lost,” the statement said.

Since the beginning of 2026, Russia has attacked Naftogaz Group facilities 293 times.

Attacks on Naftogaz

In particular, on August 2, Naftogaz noted that over the first seven months of 2026, 37 gas stations in the group’s network were destroyed as a result of Russian attacks; some of them have been repaired and returned to operation, while the rest sustained critical damage and are currently out of service.

The Russian military regularly attacks Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure in all regions of Ukraine using various types of weapons—strike UAVs, missiles, guided bombs, and multiple-launch rocket systems.

Ukrainian authorities and international organizations classify these strikes as war crimes committed by the Russian Federation and emphasize that they are deliberate in nature.

The shelling of systems that support the population’s livelihood and healthcare facilities—with the aim of depriving people of electricity, heat, water, communications, medical care, and other necessities of life—is a sign of genocidal acts.

Russia regularly strikes the gas production infrastructure of the Naftogaz Group in frontline regions. In particular, on July 17, Russian troops launched a massive attack on the company’s production facilities in the Kharkiv, Poltava, and Sumy regions. The occupiers used various types of drones, including jet-powered ones, to carry out the strikes.

Naftogaz stated that Russia is systematically targeting Ukraine’s oil and gas facilities in an attempt to reduce gas production volumes and complicate the country’s preparations for the heating season.

Naftogaz is Ukraine’s largest state-owned energy company. The group covers the full cycle of natural gas and oil operations—from production and transportation to storage and supply.

Naftogaz’s financial results for 2025 show a significant decline in the company’s profitability amid rising costs. The group’s revenue for the year grew by 5.7% to 270.9 billion UAH, while gross profit nearly halved to 40 billion UAH due to rising production costs.

Naftogaz’s net profit for 2025 fell 6.5-fold to 5.83 billion UAH, compared to 37.9 billion UAH a year earlier. Earnings attributable to shareholders amounted to 3.23 billion UAH.
