American weapons may begin to be manufactured in Europe and Ukraine

U.S. President Donald Trump has promised to ask American defense companies to grant licenses for the production of American weapons in Europe and Ukraine. Bloomberg reported this, citing officials familiar with the negotiations, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
“Ukraine needs air defense systems, specifically interceptor missiles to stop Russian ballistic missiles, which only the U.S. can manufacture. But since the U.S. has exhausted its stockpiles in Iran and it will take time to ramp up production, Trump told allies that he would consider licensing options,” officials who wished to remain anonymous told the publication.
The U.S. president himself confirmed these intentions.
“They would like to be able to do this, and we will consider the matter,” Donald Trump said at the G7 summit in France.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz also told reporters that the specific licenses in question would be discussed among the participating countries.

“This does indeed involve U.S. companies granting comprehensive licenses to European manufacturers,” the German chancellor confirmed.
Currently, the U.S. already manufactures certain types of weapons under license abroad. For example, missiles for the Patriot air defense system are manufactured in Germany. However, in general, the U.S. carefully guards its licensing agreements.
“We are all facing the problem that we are currently producing too little, and this can be offset by granting licenses to companies that have the necessary production capacity. This includes both European and Ukrainian companies,” Merz emphasized.
