Another IAEA mission has arrived in Ukraine: what they will be inspecting

1 May 17:50

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has sent another mission to Ukraine to assess the condition of the electrical substations that ensure the stable operation of nuclear power plants (NPPs). This mission is part of efforts to support nuclear safety in the region.

This was announced by Ukrainian Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

Shmyhal emphasized the importance of the mission, noting:

“This is already the seventh such mission, and the previous one took place earlier this year. The IAEA team will visit 14 electrical substations to assess their condition.”

According to the energy minister, Russia attempted to destroy these substations last winter, posing a threat to the stable operation of nuclear power plants and overall nuclear safety in Europe.

“We must be certain that our energy facilities are reliably protected,” he added.
