The sequel to the cult classic “The Devil Wears Prada 2” has already recouped a significant portion of its production budget. The comedy-drama, which hit theaters on May 1, grossed over $230 million at the global box office during its opening weekend.
This was reported by the Associated Press, citing data from 20th Century Studios, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".
“In the U.S. and Canada, the film earned $77 million, while international box office receipts totaled another $156.6 million. Given that the film’s production budget was approximately $100 million, the project is already off to a strong commercial start,” the publication writes.
As 20th Century Studios notes:
“This is undoubtedly one of the most successful openings in recent years.”

The Legacy of the Original
The original film “The Devil Wears Prada,” released in 2006, grossed over $326 million at the global box office and became a true hit.
“It’s more than just a movie, it’s a phenomenon,” film critics recall about the first installment.

In the story, Andy Sachs (Gateway) returns to Runway magazine as editor two decades after serving as Miranda Priestly’s assistant.
Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, who served as the inspiration for Streep’s character, has publicly endorsed the project this time, although she previously objected to the use of her likeness.
