Former Shakhtar and Dynamo player mobilized to the Armed Forces of Ukraine after escape scandal

The former goalkeeper of Dynamo Kyiv, Shakhtar Donetsk and several other clubs, Artur Rudko, was detained while trying to illegally cross the Ukrainian border. This is reported by Sport Arena, "Komersant Ukrainian" informs
According to unofficial information, the former footballer is currently undergoing basic military training in one of the training centers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine – Rudko was mobilized into the ranks of the Ukrainian defense forces immediately after his detention.
There has been no official confirmation of this information from government agencies.
Details of Rudko’s detention
The State Border Guard Service has disclosed details of an attempted illegal border crossing by former Dynamo Kyiv and Shakhtar Donetsk goalkeeper Artur Rudko and a group of people.
“In Odesa region, border guards stopped a car carrying four violators and the 4-year-old son of one of them. It was a deliberate intention to take the child with them so that the border guards would not have any doubts. The boy’s mother, as it turned out, agreed to his risky “journey,” the statement said.
The crossing was planned on the Transnistrian segment of the Ukrainian-Moldovan border.
“Among the detainees are residents of different regions who acted on instructions from the Telegram channel. Each had to pay $8,000 in cryptocurrency, and one of the ‘clients’ even gave an advance. Currently, the boy and his mother are with us, and administrative reports have been drawn up against the adults,” the statement said.
What is known about Rudko
Rudko has extensive football experience. Artur Rudko is a graduate of Dynamo Kyiv, where he won the Ukrainian Premier League, two Cups and three Super Cups.
He also became the national champion and the winner of the National Cup as Shakhtar’s backup goalkeeper in the 2023/24 season.
The goalkeeper’s former club was Chornomorets, from which he left at the end of last season.
The incident with the detention of the former player caused a resonance in the football community, as it is a well-known goalkeeper who played for several leading Ukrainian teams. Details of the case are currently being investigated.
