Russia’s massive attack on Ukraine: casualties and destruction reported in several regions

On the night of April 28, Russian forces launched a massive drone attack on Ukraine. The enemy launched 123 drones from six directions, including approximately 80 Shahed strike drones. Defense forces shot down or neutralized 95 targets, but hits were recorded in 16 locations. The consequences of the attack are being documented in the Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Chernihiv, and Kherson regions. "Komersant Ukrainian" has compiled all information regarding the Russian Federation’s nighttime shelling as of this morning.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, on the night of April 28, Russian troops attacked Ukraine with 123 strike UAVs of the Shahed, “Gerbera,” “Italmas,” and other types.
The launches were carried out from Kursk, Orel, Shatalovo, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and Gvardeyskoye in occupied Crimea.
How many drones were shot down by air defense
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
As of 08:00, 95 enemy UAVs had been shot down or neutralized in the north, south, and east of the country.
At the same time, 19 strikes by attack drones were recorded at 16 locations, as well as the fall of debris from downed UAVs at four additional locations.

At the time of the morning update, the attack was still ongoing.
Konotop: damaged houses, a hospital, and the tram network
On the morning of April 28, Russian drones attacked Konotop in the Sumy region. Mayor Artem Semenikhin reported damage to residential buildings, administrative buildings, and the central district hospital.
The city’s tram network was also damaged, leading to the suspension of tram service.
“Part of the energy infrastructure has been destroyed… Part of the city is without power. In one of the neighborhoods, water supply will be provided on a schedule of 6-9 a.m. and 6-9 p.m.,” Semenikhin said.
In total, 19 settlements in the Sumy region came under Russian attack over the past 24 hours. According to regional police, one person was killed and four others were wounded.
Kryvyi Rih: Strike on infrastructure, one dead and others injured
In Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region, a Russian drone struck an infrastructure facility. The head of the city’s Defense Council, Oleksandr Vilkul, reported that one man was killed and another person was injured as a result of the strike.
Later, reports emerged of a higher number of casualties: according to the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, on the morning of April 28, one person was killed and five were injured as a result of the strike on Kryvyi Rih.
In the Kryvyi Rih district, the enemy also attacked the Zelenodolsk community. No casualties were reported.
In the Nikopol district, the enemy attacked the communities of Nikopol, Marganetsk, Mirivsk, Pokrovsk, and Chervonohryhorivsk with drones. One man was injured. Private homes and a farm building were damaged.

Zaporizhzhia: two men wounded
Zaporizhzhia was also attacked by drones this morning.
According to Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, two men aged 40 and 45 were injured in the morning attack.
Their condition was assessed as moderate, and medical personnel provided the necessary assistance.
Chernihiv region: agricultural enterprises and residential areas under attack
In the Chernihiv region, Russian drones attacked border communities, residential areas, and agricultural enterprises.
According to the State Emergency Service, residential buildings and farm structures caught fire in the Horodnya community following shelling of the private sector.
Attacks on agricultural enterprises were also reported.
Earlier in Chernihiv Oblast, Russian drones had already struck agricultural enterprises, damaging equipment, warehouse buildings, and infrastructure.








Kherson region: drones struck city districts and suburbs
Kherson and its suburbs came under attack by Russian drones again this morning. According to local authorities, the enemy attacked the Korabelny district and the suburbs of the regional center.
A 61-year-old man was injured when explosives were dropped on a private yard.
A 69-year-old man was also taken to the hospital after his car was struck by a Russian drone in the suburbs. The victims were diagnosed with blast injuries, concussions, and shrapnel wounds.
