One of Europe’s longest routes: Leo Express launches a route between Przemyśl and Frankfurt

2 June 06:28

Starting June 25, 2026, the European private rail operator Leo Express will launch a new daily international service between Przemyśl, Poland, and Frankfurt am Main. The route will become one of the longest direct passenger rail connections in Europe, stretching over 1,300 kilometers. Leo Express itself announced the launch of the new route, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"

The new route is particularly important for passengers from Ukraine, as Przemyśl remains one of the main transportation hubs for Ukrainians traveling onward to EU countries.

The main advantage of the new route is a direct connection without transfers through major cities in Poland, the Czech Republic, and Germany all the way to Frankfurt Airport, one of Europe’s largest aviation hubs.

When will the new Leo Express train launch?

The first trip on the Przemyśl–Frankfurt route is scheduled for June 25, 2026. Leo Express explicitly states this date on the route page and in the long-distance schedule.

The carrier states that the train will run daily in both directions. This means that passengers will have a reliable daily rail connection between the Polish-Ukrainian border and western Germany.

What will the train route be?

The new Leo Express train will travel from Przemyśl via Kraków, Prague, Dresden, and Leipzig to Frankfurt am Main, with Frankfurt Airport —Frankfurt’s international airport—as its final destination. This stop makes the route particularly convenient for those planning to fly onward to other countries.

On its website, Leo Express explicitly refers to this service as the “Direct Train to The Airport.” This allows passengers to avoid additional transfers within Germany.

What is the schedule?

Westbound, the train will depart from Przemyśl at 1:31 p.m. and arrive at Frankfurt Airport at 7:53 a.m. the following day.

In the opposite direction, the train will depart from Frankfurt Airport at 8:27 a.m. and arrive in Przemyśl at 2:23 a.m. the following night.

This route format may be convenient for families with children, seniors, and passengers with a lot of luggage, as it is a single direct trip rather than a series of separate transfers.
