5,000 hryvnias for every first-grader — how to receive the new “Schoolchild’s Package” payment in 2026

Ukrainian families whose children are starting first grade this year can receive a one-time government grant of 5,000 hryvnias under the “School Supplies Package” program. The funds are intended for the purchase of clothing, shoes, books, and school supplies. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" , citing the Pension Fund of Ukraine.
Who Is Eligible to Receive 5,000 hryvnias for a First-Grader
The one-time government grant is provided to one of the child’s parents or legal guardians.
Families are eligible for the payment if:
- the child has been enrolled in the first grade of an educational institution that provides primary and basic secondary education;
- the child is a citizen of Ukraine;
- the applicant is a citizen of Ukraine.
The following may also submit an application:
- foster parents at family-type children’s homes;
- foster parents;
- guardians;
- representatives of institutions for orphans and children deprived of parental care;
- individuals in whose families a child is temporarily residing.
How to Apply for the “School Supplies Package”
Applications can be submitted until November 15, 2026.
The easiest way is through the “Diya” mobile app .
After verifying the information, the Pension Fund will notify the applicant of their eligibility for the payment.
If you are unable to use the app, you can submit the documents in paper form to any service center of the Pension Fund of Ukraine.
What documents and information are required
The application must include:
- the applicant’s last name, first name, and patronymic;
- the applicant’s taxpayer identification number;
- the child’s information;
- date of birth;
- the series and number of the birth certificate;
- special bank account number.
If necessary, the Pension Fund may request documents confirming the legal representative’s authority or the child’s status.

What Can You Spend 5,000 Hryvnias On?
The benefit is paid only in non-cash form.
The funds may be used exclusively to purchase items necessary for a future first-grader, including:
- school supplies;
- stationery;
- books;
- children’s clothing;
- shoes.
Purchases can be made at stores and from officially registered sole proprietors.
How long do you have to use the funds?
Once the funds are credited to the special account, they must be used within 180 calendar days.
If any funds remain unused after this period, the authorized bank will return them to the Pension Fund of Ukraine.
Do I need to open a new account?
If a person has already received payments under government programs such as:
- “eSupport”;
- “Baby Package”;
- “Winter Support”;
- “National Cashback ‘Made in Ukraine’,”
then it is usually not necessary to open a new special account.
If you do not have such an account, you can open one for free at one of the authorized banks.
When the benefit is not granted
The payment is not provided if the first-grader:
- has moved abroad for permanent residence;
- is located in a temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine.
Additionally, an application for a child may be submitted only by one of the parents or a legal guardian.
An important feature of the program
The Pension Fund emphasizes that this payment is not taken into account when calculating a family’s total income for the purpose of determining eligibility for other types of state social assistance.
Therefore, receiving the “Schoolchild’s Package” will not affect a family’s eligibility for other social benefits.
