Ranking of the most profitable industries in Ukraine: where people earn the most

Last year, energy companies earned the most in Ukraine – UAH 876.9 billion, or 21% of the total income of all industries. Almost the same income was earned in the wholesale and retail trade sectors: uAH 567.7 billion and UAH 529.2 billion. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Opendatabot.
Opendatabot has presented an updated Index of the Best Companies in Ukraine-2025, which includes companies with the largest financial turnover and impeccable business reputation. This analytical tool allows to assess the real state of Ukrainian business and its geographical distribution.
How the rating was formed
The Index was compiled using data from state registers, financial statements of companies for 2024, as well as information on relations with Russia, sanctions lists and other analytical resources of OpenDatabot.
This year, the list excludes:
- companies that are under sanctions;
- businesses owned by Russian citizens;
- members of financial and industrial groups related to sanctioned persons
- companies with tax arrears;
- state-owned and municipal companies.
The rating also excluded companies that failed to submit their financial statements on time. Businesses associated with public figures, MPs or politicians who are required to declare their income, as well as Diia.City residents and companies in the process of preventive restructuring, are marked separately.
“The Opendatabot index, built on the basis of financial statements and company revenues, reflects the real picture of the state of Ukrainian business in 2024,” said Oleksiy Ivankin, founder of Opendatabot.

Industry leaders in 2024
In 2024, the energy sector received the largest revenue – UAH 876.9 billion, which is 21% of the total revenue. Wholesale trade earned UAH 567.7 billion, and retail – UAH 529.2 billion.
It should be noted that the weight and share of the industry and region are calculated on the basis of the top companies and their turnover. This approach makes it possible to understand and assess the impact of a particular region on the economy of the whole country, the financial capacity of industries and the position of the largest players in each.
Regional leaders in 2024
According to analysts, businesses registered in the capital earned the most – UAH 2.6 trillion.
Dnipropetrovs’k region is in second place, with business revenue of UAH 653 billion last year. Kyiv region (excluding Kyiv) rounds out the top three: uAH 208.3 billion.
Zaporizhzhia region takes the fourth place (UAH 123.8 billion), and Poltava region is in fifth place (UAH 89 billion).

Businesses in Ternopil region (UAH 2.2 billion) and Ivano-Frankivsk region (UAH 3.2 billion) earned the least.
Top 10 Ukrainian companies that made the most profit in 2024
The rating of the largest companies in Ukraine in 2024 was headed by D.Trading LLC, which is part of Rinat Akhmetov’s DTEK energy holding and sells coal, gas and electricity, according to YouControl, which analyzed the current data on the financial performance of enterprises for 2024.
Among the leaders, seven companies are state-owned.
The top ten in terms of net sales revenue:
- D.Trading LLC – UAH 215.8 billion (profit of UAH 5.6 billion)
- ATB-Market LLC – UAH 208.9 billion (profit of UAH 3.1 billion)
- JSC National Nuclear Energy Generating Company Energoatom – UAH 207.0 billion (profit of UAH 1.3 billion)
- JSC National Joint Stock Company Naftogaz of Ukraine – UAH 157.8 billion (profit of UAH 0.9 billion)
- Gas Supply Company Naftogaz Trading LLC – UAH 124.9 billion (loss of UAH 9.1 billion)
- PJSC Ukrnafta – UAH 105.2 billion (profit of UAH 16.4 billion)
- JSC “Ukrainian Railways” – UAH 102.9 billion (loss of UAH 2.7 billion)
- PJSC National Energy Company Ukrenergo – UAH 101.1 billion (loss of UAH 37.7 billion)
- JSC Ukrgasvydobuvannya – UAH 100.6 billion (profit of UAH 20.9 billion)
- Silpo-Food LLC – UAH 93.0 billion (profit of UAH 0.2 billion).
