Cabbage Prices in Ukraine Are Plummeting: Key Factors

4 July 17:15

Following the rise in prices for white cabbage observed on the Ukrainian market over the past three weeks, prices in this segment have begun to decline, according to analysts from the EastFruit project, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".

In particular, Ukrainian farmers are increasingly forced to lower cabbage prices amid abundant supply and low demand. Since the end of last week alone, prices for this product have fallen by an average of 16%, and white cabbage is currently being offered for sale at 13–22 UAH/kg ($0.29–0.49/kg), depending on quality and batch size.

According to producers, they are forced to lower prices primarily due to relatively subdued demand. Wholesalers and retail chains are purchasing cabbage only in small batches for current sales, citing low consumer interest. In addition, prices are under pressure from increased market supply, as most farms have already begun harvesting medium-sized cabbage varieties.

It should be noted that, despite the price drop, the price of white cabbage in Ukraine is currently still, on average, 20% higher than it was in early July 2025.
