A bridge collapsed in the Chernivtsi region: six children were injured

On Saturday, June 6, a bridge collapsed in the village of Vyzhenka, part of the Vyzhnytsia territorial community in Chernivtsi Oblast, while more than 30 children were on it. The Chernivtsi Oblast Prosecutor’s Office reported this on Facebook , according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
According to the investigation, 55 children from the Kharkiv region were on an organized vacation. During a walk, more than 30 children under the age of 15 were on a wooden suspension bridge across the Vyzhenka River taking photos when the structure suddenly collapsed.
As a result of the fall, six children were injured and hospitalized in medical facilities in Chernivtsi. They were preliminarily diagnosed with head injuries, concussions, fractures, contusions, and hematomas.

Law enforcement officials are investigating all circumstances of the incident. They are verifying compliance with safety requirements during the organization of children’s recreational activities, as well as the technical condition of the bridge and the actions of those responsible for its maintenance and operation.
The Vyzhnytsia District Prosecutor’s Office has launched a pre-trial investigation into the improper performance of duties regarding the protection of children’s lives and health (Part 1 of Article 137 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
Rescue workers were not called to the scene.
