Ukraine is calling on the U.S. administration to reinstate sanctions restricting trade in Russian oil.
This was posted on Saturday on social media by Ukraine’s Ambassador to the U.S., Olga Stefanishyna, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
“We cannot allow Russia to benefit from the actions of its ally, Iran,” the diplomat noted. “We call on the U.S. administration to reinstate sanctions on Russian oil and petroleum products.”
According to Stefanishyna, “it is in our mutual interest to restrict the funding that Russia uses for its attacks on Ukraine and to support the United States’ adversaries.”
If Russia sees that destabilization and the incitement of war are profitable, “new problems in the world will not be long in coming,” she noted.
It is noteworthy that a Russian representative has already called the lifting of oil sanctions “cooperation,” the ambassador added.
