A Russian university in Belgorod that was developing UAVs for the Russian Armed Forces has been destroyed

On the night of August 2, 2026, during a massive airstrike on Belgorod (Russian Federation), unidentified UAVs attacked Belgorod State Technological University (V.G. Shukhov Belgorod State Technological University). This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing Russian media.
After several strikes on the building and the university campus, a massive fire broke out. As a result of the fire, one of the university’s buildings was completely destroyed.
According to Russian media, it was in this very building that the development and testing of an automated UAV control system based on the Russian “Milandr” microprocessor were taking place.

The university itself officially stated that “the development has purely civilian applications” and is supposedly “intended for monitoring power lines, heating mains, and aerial photography.”
In the summer of 2026, BGTU recruited local high school students for summer courses on UAV development.
Russian authorities have not yet reported on the attack on the university.
Massive Attack Across Russia
On the night of August 3, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that it had allegedly intercepted more than a hundred drones in various regions of the country.
In addition to Belgorod, attacks were reported in:
- the Vladimir region;
- the Bryansk region;
- Kursk Oblast;
- the Kaluga region;
- Smolensk Oblast;
- Tula Oblast;
- other regions of the Russian Federation.
That same night, one of Wildberries’ largest logistics centers in the Vladimir Region was also hit, resulting in a massive fire.
