The Verkhovna Rada approved Svyrydenko’s resignation

On Tuesday, July 14, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko. 258 members of parliament voted in favor, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

Along with Svyrydenko, the entire cabinet is also resigning.

As a reminder, Yulia Svyrydenko was born in 1985. She graduated from Kyiv National University of Trade and Economics and earned a master’s degree in “Antitrust Management.”

She began her career in 2008 in the private sector. Since 2015, she has held leadership positions in the Chernihiv Regional State Administration: she headed the Department of Economic Development, served as first deputy head of the Chernihiv Regional State Administration, and from July through December 2018, she served as acting head of the Regional State Administration.

In September 2019, she was appointed Deputy Minister, and in July 2020, she became First Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Trade, and Agriculture of Ukraine.

On December 22, 2020, she was appointed Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.

On November 4, 2021, she assumed the position of First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine—Minister of Economy of Ukraine.

On July 17, 2025, the Verkhovna Rada appointed Svyrydenko as Prime Minister of Ukraine, succeeding Denys Shmyhal, who had led the Cabinet of Ministers for more than five years.

Media reports indicated that Svyrydenko is likely to be appointed Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States, replacing Olga Stefanishyna, who is leaving the diplomatic service.
