Veterans will receive up to 70 thousand for car re-equipment – how to apply

The Cabinet of Ministers has adopted a resolution that launches a new mechanism of financial assistance for defenders with disabilities. The state will compensate for the cost of re-equipping a personal car to meet the individual needs of a veteran. The maximum amount of payment is up to 70 thousand hryvnias. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
The ministry emphasizes that this is not just financial support, but an important step towards real barrier-free mobility for the military who lost their health while defending Ukraine.
When will the program start and who can access it?
The new compensation mechanism will take effect in January 2026. Veterans with disabilities who have converted their cars to meet their needs will be eligible to receive the payment.
Compensation will be provided on the basis of actual and documented expenses. The work must be performed exclusively at specialized service stations that are licensed and authorized to carry out such types of conversion.
How to apply for compensation
In order to receive the payment, you will need to contact the veteran policy departments operating at
- regional military administrations (RMAs)
- district administrations,
- executive bodies of city councils.
The applicant submits an application and a package of required documents.
Detailed instructions on how to submit and the list of documents will be published by the Ministry of Veterans later.

The pilot project was developed by the Ministry of Veterans as part of the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Space for 2025-2026.

The Ministry also pays for driving courses for veterans with disabilities.
