3 June 07:56
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy plans to attend the G7 leaders’ summit, which will take place in France. Politico reports this, citing three anonymous officials familiar with the event’s preparations, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"
According to media reports, key topics for the Ukrainian side at the summit may include military diplomacy, strengthening air defense, and additional support for Ukraine amid new Russian attacks.
Where and when will the G7 summit take place
The 2026 G7 Leaders’ Summit will take place in Evian-les-Bains, France, from June 15 to 17. This is confirmed by the website of the French G7 presidency, the Élysée Palace’s calendar of events, and the EU Council’s page on international summits.
France officially holds the G7 presidency in 2026, and among the priorities of its presidency, it specifically mentions responding to major geopolitical crises.
The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ website states that the topic of Ukraine is part of the agenda for the French presidency.
Public signals regarding the Ukrainian president’s participation in the summit were already being sent at the beginning of the year. On January 26, French Ambassador to Ukraine Gaël Vessier stated that France had already decided to invite Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the G7 leaders’ summit, and that Ukraine itself would be a “very key topic” of the French presidency.
At the same time, on January 20, Zelenskyy himself told reporters that he had not yet received an invitation to any of the G7 meetings in France.

What topics might Ukraine bring to the summit
Against the backdrop of recent massive Russian attacks, one of the main issues for Kyiv remains strengthening air defense, particularly additional systems and missiles for them.
President Zelenskyy has previously discussed with French President Emmanuel Macron the protection of Ukraine from Russian missile and drone attacks, indicating the consistency of this topic in the Ukrainian-French dialogue.
In addition to air defense, Ukraine may raise the issues of military aid, diplomatic coordination, defense funding, and general security support at the G7 summit.
Who else will attend the summit
The G7 includes France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Reuters has already reported that U.S. President Donald Trump also plans to attend the summit in France.
Separately, Reuters reported that France has also invited the leaders of India, South Korea, Brazil, and Kenya to the summit. This means that the summit in Evian will have a broader format than just a meeting of the “seven” leaders.
The Élysée Palace is organizing this year’s G7 summit. At this time, an official spokesperson for the French presidency has not provided any comments to the press regarding the final details of the visit.
