In recent days, reports have begun to appear in Russian media outlets and on Telegram channels claiming that the occupying forces have allegedly advanced so far that the regional capital is now under a partial encirclement. Military analyst and co-chair of the civic initiative “Prava Sprava,” Dmytro Snegirev, refuted these claims in a YouTube interview "Komersant Ukrainian", calling them part of the enemy’s information and psychological operations.
Snegirev acknowledged that the occupiers have achieved certain tactical successes in this direction.
At the same time, he said, the scale of Russia’s advance is being significantly exaggerated in enemy media.
“Sumy is not under a semi-encirclement. Currently, the occupiers have achieved some success, but the depth of their advance is at most 7 km. The enemy is attempting to exploit the escalation of the situation solely for informational purposes. In other words, talk of a semi-encirclement or encirclement of the regional center does not correspond to reality,” the expert noted.

The expert explained that the goal of such “disinformation” is to sow panic among the civilian population and force Ukraine to withdraw reserves from other hotspots.
