Air raid alert in Kyiv triggered by explosions: there are victims

Several explosions were heard in Kyiv, followed by the sound of an air raid alarm, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.

First, the Ukrainian Air Force reported the ballistic missile threat.

“A threat of ballistic weapons from the south.”

– the military said.

A few minutes later, explosions and an air raid alert were heard simultaneously in Kyiv. This means that the enemy most likely used ballistic missiles, or Kinzhal missiles, which the Russians call “hypersonic”.

The Kyiv City Administration said that air defence is in place in the capital.

“The air raid alert is on! Air defence is operating in the capital. Stay in shelters until the air raid is over!”

– said Serhiy Popko, Head of the Kyiv City Air Defence Administration.

Monitoring channels report that six explosions were heard in Kyiv region. It is noted that these could be Oniks or Zircon missiles launched from the occupied Crimea. We are waiting for comments from the Air Force.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that emergency services are being sent to the Pecherskyi, Solomianskyi and Dniprovskyi districts of the capital.

At the same time, the head of the KIAA confirmed that a residential building in the Pechersk district had been hit.

Popko later clarified that a multi-storey building in the Pechersk district was damaged. Debris was also reported falling in Solomianskyi and Dniprovskyi districts of the capital.

In the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv, fragments of a rocket were found in a forest belt. There was no information on casualties or damage.

“There are currently two injured in the Pechersk district. One woman was treated on the spot. The second one was hospitalised by medics,”

– said Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

The commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykola Oleshchuk said that the Russian occupiers had fired two ballistic missiles at Kyiv from the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea.

“The targets have been destroyed, the type is being identified.”

– he added.

Klitschko clarified that the number of casualties has increased to 4 people.

“Four people were injured in the Pechersk district. Two women were treated on the spot. Two, including a 16-year-old girl, were hospitalised,”

– the mayor said.
