The EU has responded to the shelling of Ukraine by allocating 1.4 billion euros from Russia’s frozen assets

Ursula von der Leyen stated that the EU will provide Ukraine with 1.4 billion euros from proceeds of Russian assets. The decision was made following another wave of Russian strikes on civilian infrastructure.
“We are once again hearing news of horrific crimes committed by Russia through its airstrikes on Ukraine. Russia must pay for the destruction it has caused. And we are using funds obtained from frozen Russian assets to ensure this happens. We are allocating another 1.4 billion euros of these funds to Ukraine. This will support Ukraine’s continued resistance to Russia’s illegal war,” she emphasized.
Koretsky confirmed the receipt of funds
Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky confirmed that funds from the EU are already being directed to Ukraine.
“The funds will be used to strengthen our country’s defense and resilience. The response to Russian terror must be to strengthen Ukraine. Russia must pay for every new crime. We thank all our European partners for their principled stance. This gives us strength,” Koretsky wrote.

Overnight shelling of Kyiv and the Kyiv region: consequences
On Wednesday night, Russia launched one of the largest ballistic strikes of the war against logistics and distribution facilities near Kyiv; as a result, the following entities reported the destruction of their facilities: the “Epicenter” retail chain, “Nova Poshta,” and the Rozetka marketplace all reported the destruction of their facilities.
As a result of the nighttime enemy attack, Epicenter’s logistics center in Kyiv was completely destroyed by fire, and in Kalynivka, one of Ukraine’s largest ceramic tile production facilities was effectively destroyed; one employee was killed and three others were injured, according to Yulia Chudnovets, the company’s head of public relations, on Facebook.
Rozetka co-owner Iryna Chechotkina wrote on Facebook that three ballistic missiles destroyed the company’s distribution warehouse complex in Brovary, which processed over 100,000 orders per day.
In addition, the enemy destroyed the “Nova Poshta” sorting center in Kyiv with cluster munitions.
The attack affected businesses, logistics, and retail chains across the country.
Following this, Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi announced that the government is urgently convening meetings with business representatives.
